Mahalia Marcelin. My nickname, "Mayah," means "Close to God" in Hebrew! Originally from Haiti, I moved to Florida in June 2004, where I earned a degree in international business. I began my career as a Mortgage Loan Originator, aiming to earn money. However, I longed for something deeper. Though I was a dedicated Catholic before moving, distractions drew me away from God. When the world fell short, I turned my focus back to Him. As a true prodigal daughter, I returned to the Father’s House. Through this rocky journey, I developed a profound love for God. My goals and purpose gradually shifted to align with His will. On March 9, 2015, I felt a strong call to leave everything behind and follow Him, driven to make Him known. God's message was clear: "It is time to fulfill my purpose in you." Fiat, I answered, humbly attempting to make Mary’s Fiat my own. I left the business world to serve in the Lord’s vineyard. Since then, I’ve embarked on a sacred journey with God. I have followed Him on an unknown path that led me to work in the Church. I served as a coordinator for Respect Life, then as the Director of Religious Education (DRE) at Saint James Catholic Church, and later as Director of Discipleship at Nativity of Our Lord in Saint Paul, MN, for three and a half years. I completed a Master's in Applied Catholic Theology and am now pursuing a Doctorate in Applied Theology at Saint Leo University. God has always called me to surrender without a plan… and I always respond Fiat! As I enter a new phase of my "Fiat,"
I am both scared and hopeful. I am discovering my path as a pilgrim of hope. What a sacred and hope-filled journey!
Mission & Love is a eucumenical faith-filled blog. While It reflects my personal encounter with God as a catholic, I want it to be a place for all to be inspired to seek God in their own path. As a prodigal daughter of God, I know first hand what it means to be lost, but now I am found... My personal relationship with Jesus Christ saved me, and I desire the same for the world! This began as a journal of my journey, and now I want to share it with others so they may come to know HIM. This ecumenical healing journey is a universal language that unites us in our search for purpose and love. This blog will aim to help others by bringing the light of Christ into the darkness along their paths... I enjoy sharing my testimony, discussing our Catholic faith, listening to others on their faith journeys, and speaking at various faith events.
I can't wait to share more with you!
Mission & Love - Redeeming Authentic Womanhood will be an outreach ministry to empower all women and prepare young and teenage girls to respond to their true calling as Woman - “ʿezer ke-negdo” (Gen 2:18) This Hebrew word is the source of our identity in God. "Ezer" has been used in scripture to define God as “savior,” and "ke-negdo" means “equivalent to him.” Women are reminded of this “ʿezer ke-negdo” calling that reflects the female image and likeness of God as “saviors” “equal to men.” We are not meant to be the same but to be equally yoked. As a dedicated and faithful Black Catholic laywoman, I want to inspire other women to live in their authentic womanhood and to strive to be "who God meant them to be" for the greater Glory of God in the Church and in the World.
